Vertigo, 'ringing in the ears,' and hearing loss resolved
Chiropractic Care Benefits 40-Yr. Old Sufferer of Meniere's Disease
(July, Capac MI). Meniere's Disease was first identified as a specific ailment back in 1861 by Prosper Meniere, a 19th-century French doctor who served as chief physician at an institute for deaf-mutes. His studies there led to his specialization in diseases of the ear.
“Meniere's disease, or MD, is thought to affect one in 1,000 people, or about one-tenth of one percent of the world's population,” said Capac-based Dr. Todd Grubb, D.C., who keeps current on a wide variety of health and wellness issues. “Both sexes are affected equally, and the White race seems to be affected more than any other," the doctor continued. "MD's onset usually occurs between the ages of 20 and 50.”
In this particular case study of a 40-year old female, the patient had been diagnosed with MD and had a 3-month history of vertigo and a 16-month history of tinnitus, which is often characterizes as "ear-ringing" by lay persons, in her left ear. She also showed a low frequency hearing loss.
According to the case study report, which was published in the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine,
The patient underwent a course of chiropractic [care] consisting of spinal manipulative therapy in the cervical and thoracic spine, soft-tissue trigger-point therapy, home ice therapy (as needed), and cervical spine rehabilitation exercises.
“The patient's initial course of chiropractic care consisted of three visits per week for two weeks,” said Dr. Grubb. “After just two weeks, her tinnitus was resolved and her vertigo was much improved."
The patient continued with chiropractic care on a less frequent, maintenance program, and her MD continued to remain under control.
“This study represents a very preliminary level of findings, and much more research is needed,” Dr. Grubb added. “But the results should offer some encouragement for people suffering with the symptoms of Meniere's Disease.”
Anyone wishing more information may contact Dr. Grubb, whose office is located at 116N Main Street, Capac, USA (telephone 810-395-2679).

The Cost Of Healthcare
With a new president bringing up the old topic of universal health care. I thought I'd introduce Capac Chiropractics' Solution for our patients.
We at Capac Chiropractic have recently seen a significant drop in insured patients. Either they have lost work, or they have had to drop a more expensive policies for more affordable ones, or maybe their employer has increased the deductible and/or co-pays for their policies thereby increasing the cost of out of pocket expense for the patient and their family.
As a Chiropractor I've seen this kind of thing coming for some time. Several years ago the big three stopped paying for most chiropractic services, Well anybody in Michigan knows that's a significant portion of people that no longer have Chiropractic Coverage.
So several years ago I started looking for ways to keep chiropractic care affordable to my patients and their families who were having to pay for these services out of pocket. The problem was having to collect a reasonable fee from an insured patient is much more costly for me, yet having multiple fee schedules left me open to insurance audits. Basically its okay for insurance companies to negotiate a lower fee for their clients but, illegal for a doctor to give a break to an uninsured patient.
So what I had to do was find a way to offer paying customers a good deal. What I found was a nationwide chiropractic network called Preferred Chiropractic Doctor or PCD. This allows us to give our patients significant discounts on quality chiropractic health care at a price any family can afford, not just in Capac but at many chiropractic offices accross the country. At Capac Chiropractic we love our patients just like family and take care of them like they are our own. Everone in my family recieves chiropractic care including me, and we feel chiropractic should be available to everyone universally wether they are insured or not.

The greening of health care in america
Everybody is talking about going green. Capac Chiropractic follows a wellness model based on toxicity and deficiency vs. purity and sufficiency. Our bodies are genetically designed to be healthy and before modern industrialization, to live in a pure and sufficient environment, In the last couple of hundred years our environment has become increasingly toxic, physically, chemically and emotionally.
When our environment is toxic or deficient often by making the wrong choices, eating junk food, smoking, watching too much mindless television or playing video games, taking prescription or OTC medications, the doom and gloom of the daily world news. Exposure to household or industrial chemicals.Residual drugs in our drinking water. Subluxation and Bad posture from from sitting too much in crappy school chairs... The cells of our body live in chronic stress(defense) and we are unable to grow healthy, and despite all the money we spent we're sick.
If we can recognize toxic situations and replace it with purity, safe non-toxic biodegradable cleaners, purified drinking water, purified air and if we can recognize our deficiencies and supply the sufficiently, real organic foods without pesticides and labels, absorbable food based supplements, chiropractic adjustments of the spine to allow optimal nerve function and tone , normal activity and movement... then our living cells will repair, heal, and grow. Like it is genetically programmed to do.
Eco-friendly health care like chiropractic that is non-toxic means less prescription drugs, less surgery and less paper to explain all the side effects.

The wellness approach.
What’s the main difference between wellness care and standard medical care? Wellness care seeks to turn on the natural healing ability, not by adding something to the system, but by removing anything that might interfere with normal function, trusting that the body would know what to do if nothing were interfering with it. Standard medical care, on the other hand, seeks to treat a symptom by adding something from the outside – a medication, a surgery or procedure.
Inside Out vs. Outside In
If a patient has high blood pressure, a standard medical approach would be to choose a drug that lowers blood pressure, and ask the patient to take the drug. This may serve to lower the blood pressure, but ignores the underlying cause that is making the blood pressure high, and runs the risk of side effects complicating the person’s recovery. Whether it’s a nutritional issue, faulty control by the nerve system or a manifestation of stress, the medication could decrease the blood pressure, leaving the problem causing the symptom of high blood pressure unaddressed.
The Wellness Approach
Wellness is a state of optimal conditions for normal function… and then some. The wellness approach is to look for underlying causes of any disturbance or disruption (which may or may not be causing symptoms at the time) and make whatever interventions and lifestyle adjustments would optimize the conditions for normal function. That environment encourages natural healing, and minimizes the need for invasive treatment, which should be administered only when absolutely necessary. When the body is working properly, it tends to heal effectively, no matter what the condition. When the body heals well and maintains itself well, then there is another level of health that goes beyond “asymptomatic” or “pain-free” which reveals an open-ended opportunity for vitality, vibrant health, and an enhanced experience of life. This is true for mental and emotional health as well as physical health. While some people may suffer psychological disorders, creating an atmosphere of mental and emotional wellness will address all but the most serious problems.
